Cristiano Ronaldo Sent Off in Saudi Super Cup Semi-Final Defeat
Al-Nassr forward Cristiano Ronaldo was sent off during his team’s 2-1 defeat to Al-Hilal in the semi-final of the Saudi Super Cup. The incident occurred in the 86th minute of the match when Ronaldo was shown a straight red card for elbowing an opponent.
The Portugal international, who had been booked earlier in the game, appeared to swing his elbow into the chest of Ali Al Bulayhi, resulting in the referee issuing a red card. Ronaldo then left the field, with the match ending in a 2-1 loss for Al-Nassr.
This is Ronaldo’s first red card since joining Al-Nassr in December 2022. The defeat means Al-Nassr will not advance to the final of the Saudi Super Cup, with three-time winners Al-Hilal set to face Al-Ittihad in the final on Thursday.
In the other semi-final match, Al-Ittihad secured a 2-1 victory over Al-Wehda, with goals from former Real Madrid captain Karim Benzema and Morocco forward Abderrazak Hamdallah.
